We finally got to a point where I felt it was time for a nice piece of jewelry, so I picked out with her a pair of earrings in her birth stone. They were at a price I could afford.

When we finally got back to her home, she felt guilty, took her mother aside, and they both came back advising me to take the earrings back, her father chiming in the background “she has enough jewelry” (that’s not the point, it was a step of greater commitment and love).
Should I feel insulted, or roll with the apparent “shopaholic” problem?

RUN. She’ll ruin your credit and **** your savings dry. Tell her to call you when she overcomes her addictions. If she’s in her 40’s *** are her parents doing? Does she still live with them because she’s so financially irresponsible she can’t pay rent? RUN. 5 months is enough time to learn she has major problems.
