How would a gold and opal necklace have been crefted?

I am the Badger Princess. asked:

A gold necklace with different shapes linked together with chains, what would be the production process of this? Would a metal cast have been made?

depends. If the shapes are flat they might have been sawn out of gold sheet, but if they have a relief they might be cast. Though if it’s factory made it might be stamped/pressed.
The chains are made from wire. If you made them by hand you wrap wire tightly around a round or oval shape (like a thin pencil). Then you saw through the wire along your shape resulting in a lot of little jump rings.

With a good (sharp and well lit) photo it might be possible to tell you more.
