To get into the jewelry design field professionally do you need a degree in metal/jewelry?

oh no! asked:

I would like to help design jewelry for big companies such as Tiffany’s one day but am going to school for Graphic Design. If I applied to a place like that with only my degree and portfolio of jewelry would that be enough?

Or would they really want a specific jewelry degree? I was thinking about getting my Maters in something like business or just plain Design.

There is a specialized course of Jewelry Designing which you need to take up to be a professional designer. Jewellery designing is a short term course.

You can also take up some course in Gemology.

You can find out more details on GIA’s website GIA- Gemological Institute of America.
